“Yours to Make"
This contemporary sculpture is an interactive, personal statement. You see yourself in the mirror, past an upright hand that reminds that these are your choices. The figures in the contact photography underscore the determination you must for making your own choices, despite those who disagree. The front figure says: “I’ve made a choice”; the figures on the sides are questioning that choice. The glass pieces represent black or white decisions, and those in the grey zone. Stand up for what you believe in no matter what.
This sculpture was selected for the Art in the County juried show in 2015. Crafted from recycled steel, Joy invokes pure happiness depicting a tree’s branches or many hands reaching high. The red billiard balls often the harsh lines of the steel, evoking life lived in vivid color.
