In honor of Georgia O’Keeffe’s flowers, Georgia is a like a stylized stone version of one of her gorgeous painted flowers. The grooved feature in this inviting piece is reminiscent of the stamen of a flower, and the surrounding features are like its petals, a large petal at the bottom and one on each side. The other side of the sculpture represents the warm touch of Ms. O’Keeffe the woman, her back is both sensuous and attractive.
This sculpture has two different energies. Your first impression is the hot energy of a powerful fire sweeping up through the curvature of the stone culminating in pinnacle of the flame. The energy flows through it, burning but alluring, drawing you inwards. The more subtle energy underlies the powerful one, sensuous and curvy, evoking a warmly maternal figure of a woman carrying a baby. The colour and the shape are fluid and flow with your gaze, looking back at you.
