Labyrinth - SOLD
At the top is a headdress and down across right hand side is a nose. Triangular. A face, but not exactly like a face. It’s a labyrinth trying to figure out what it is. You go deeper and deeper – ring of shiny, ring of matte, ring of shiny, centre of matte – questioning exactly what it is yet it has this aboriginal feel to it. Massively attractive and beautiful and equally the front of a face with a headdress and an eye. It’s one of those pieces where the stone told me what to find in it. And it worked, this piece just works.
The Spirit Within - SOLD
The strength of the stone reveals the spirit within. Its angles are soft and sensuous, and the warm grey veins in the stone run in different directions. This is the spirit of the stone, saying “hey - this is what’s really inside of me”. The flatness helps you see the beautiful spirit within: a juxtaposition of soft grey and its spirit on separate plains. It’s soothing and Zen, with a deep flowing wave and uniform color, calling to you with its gentle, strong spirit. Accepted into Juried show
Stand Tall - SOLD
My vision for the raw stone was of a torch held high in the wind. The torch now stands tall and powerful against the wind, yet there is movement pushing all around it. The asymmetric shape of the stone and the slightly asymmetrical yellow brilliance of the embedded ball in contrast with the color of the stone invokes a strong wind exerting unrelenting pressure, flowing across the top right corner and past the torch itself. The torch is unyielding and rigid, yet there is a beautiful flow and fluidity in the stone.
