 “Ulrich” was inspired by a conversation with German painter Ulrich Salago,an artist and kindred spirit I met when exhibiting my sculptures in the 2021 Florence Biennale. He helped me understand the energy communicated by my sculptures, and encouraged me to push the boundaries of my creativity and imagination. In early 2022 I translated ideas into action, carving with passion and precision that communicates strength and vulnerability, much like this sculpture’s namesake.
